Howdy! It is time for a bit of DIY again after a short silence. I decided to make a DIY bed base last weekend, with a little help from a friend. It is always best to have four pairs of eyes, rather than two, so I took help from his (and some of his manpower) for my project.-------------------------The reason why I decided to make a bed base, is that buying one is really quite expensive, and since I had access to some dear old pallets I thought why not?! Eco friendly, unique and cheap! This project had all I wanted...

Y'all know how I like to repurpose and up cycle things right?!Well, I often take help and use inspiration from the internet. Someone has always thought of a cool idea. And so I borrow, and sometimes modify, and then get going. Sometimes all you need is the seed for an idea and then the rest takes care of itself. I recently came across a super cool video with GREAT ideas for upcycling and repurposing.More than 180 of them actually. Have a look and tell me what you think!

If nothing else, I hope it will give you some great inspiration for your home. For great bamboo products, check out Bamboa - they have everything from bowls and decorations to satin soft sheets and smell free towels! Hey there! If you follow Style by Asia on Instagram (and you should!), you might have seen that I found an awesome piece of driftwood on the beach a while ago. Well, I took it home and I did something with it recently that I thought I should share. The drift log already had all several pretty pine cones attached to it, so all I did really was adding a few succulents, tie them to the log, and then hang the whole thing it on the wall. This is how it looked from the beginning.  In progress... I used small succulents I had at home already, and some green florist wire to secure them to the log...

One of the cool projects I finalised recently I actually gathered the inspiration from at one of the many weekend markets I visit frequently. Someone, somewhere (I can't remember where, there have been so many lately) had had the great idea to take old teacups and make them into the cutest little bird feeders! So so cool, I decided to borrow the idea and make my own.  What you need for my set up and design is:* 4 screws* masking tape* 4 old teacups and matching saucers* 4 metal or wood poles to attach them to* A good drill (with a diamond tip or a drill bit especially for ceramics) Now to the fun bit...

A while back, I found this old rocking horse in a second hand shop, it was old with chipped paint, and the owner practically gave it to me, as they said no one would buy it in the state it was in. I had friends with a two year old coming to visit, so it served perfectly for a few days of fun. After the visit however, I was unsure what to do with it as I didn't need it anymore (I don't have children myself and not many visiting).Although a bit scruffy, it had worked fine in the state it was in, and the little boy had been happy with it, but from what the shopkeeper said, I knew there was little chance that someone else would want it in its current shape...

I'm at it again... This time I got my partner to help and it has turned out to be a great little (read long time in the making) DIY project we have worked on together.--------------------- So.... Quite a long time ago (that is MONTHS ago) I bought an old table at an auction online. You know one of those auction sites that you type in a bid and see if you win? Well I did. And it turned out after the fact that I won it, the pick up place was pretty far away...so partner not too happy about it. But we went, and we picked it up...

Yes you heard me... The DIY Coconut Handbag!I admit it, I wouldn't have thought of it myself if I hadn't stumbled upon a broken one in a second hand shop a while ago. Obviously not being able to resist the rescue (they were about to throw it out because it was broken), I salvaged it and brought it home with me.I couldn't resist the coconut. The power of the coconut was too strong... You get it.And I thought it could spark some inspiration for you for future DIY projects of your own now in the days between Christmas and New Years - the perfect time for a little project! The only thing that was "wrong" with it was actually that it was missing its straps and that the zipper handle was fugly (pardon my expression) and that the zipper leather holder at the bottom was a bit damaged...

Home improvement: women aspire to better décor; men to better size and layout In the summer of 2015, GfK (a market research firm) interviewed more than 27,000 consumers (aged 15 and older) online, in 22 countries around the world and their findings were presented this fall. Countries included were Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, Mexico, Netherlands, Poland, Russia, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, Turkey, UK and USA. The question they asked was: "Which of these aspects of your home would you most like to change or improve, if you could?" They then asked the respondents to select all that applied:The overall size and layout/dimensionsThe interior décor or design The furniture The storage space How well organized your home is The usual level of cleanliness The household appliances The entertainment equipment Your garden, yard, patio or other outdoor areaOr, None of the above What they found was that when it comes to what aspect of their home people would most like to improve, most people wanted to change the interior décor or design (39 percent), the overall size or layout (38 percent), and the furniture (35 percent)...

Hiya, just throwing in a quick DIY for the holidays coming up. I got this round wooden ring thing at a second hand shop a while ago, thinking it will come in handy one day..Just realised I had it packed away in a drawer so pulled it out and decided it would make a great Christmas Wreath! Got myself some glittery tinsel in the second hand shop, and a little decoration thingy down at the dollar store. In total I've spent about 4 USD on the whole thing, if that. You could of course use branches of pine and cranberry decorations and red ribbons as well if you feel like a more "traditional" wreath...

Transforming a room with only a small change is something we all wish we could do sometimes. I personally love the DIY projects that take less than an hour.. Often it can be enough to just change the colour of your pillows or throws on the sofa, putting up a new picture - or re arranging the ones you already have.Today I wanted to share some of the transformations I have done recently in my house, by putting fabric, or in one case a big woollen blanket up on the wall! See below for some inspiration, hopefully it can help you jog your memory of what you have hiding in your cupboards, or identifying a great buy at a second hand store or op shop...

This is so cool. We have all heard of shipping containers getting repurposed into homes of various sizes. But this is the first time I have heard of a shipping container that is actually made to be shipped! That's right, the container can be loaded onto a ship and taken with you anywhere in the world! How is that for a mobile home?!?!!------------------- A 20ft Shipping Container can be a challenging space to work with when constructing a home. Thankfully, with years of experience building super-yachts and racing boats, shipwright Evans is no stranger to working in small spaces and when it came to building his own home he has done a truly spectacular job of, quite literally, thinking inside the box...

A lot of the clothes we use for DIY projects are older, they are from a time where clothes were made to last. Quality fabrics and craftsmanship were made to make them. Space is a very expensive commodity in Hong Kong and rents seem to forever increase with no sign of stopping. This has lead to a recent surge and popularity of co-working spaces, as people just don't have the space for their crafts at home and often cannot afford the rent a dedicated space commands. In a co-working space, freelancers and entrepreneurs are able to unleash the shackles of big buisness without the commitment of rent. They can meet like minded people and follow their passions. However, when people think of co-working spaces, tech startups and online businesses of many kinds are generally what comes to mind...
