'Sometime by Asian Designers' collaborates with seasoned Malaysian designer, Alia Bastamam in realising the latest iconic bag - the Basta. While some women prioritise a bag’s function and price over the latest trend, some don’t mind splurging their hard-earned cash on a designer label. "It" bags are fun, but they often don't have a long lifespan in your wardrobe, they rarely transcend seasons or trends and most designer bags come with a hefty price tag. Nicole Wong and her business partner, Stan Chooi, did something about it...

What I’ve gathered from many friends who are avid travellers, mainly about hotels in Hong Kong, is the fact that hotel rooms are generally small. Sometimes, (or most times) the hotels fall into the no-more-next-time blacklist. My recent trip back to Hong Kong proved to be a positive one albeit the stigma of hotel rooms being a nightmare with little meandering space and very narrow bathrooms. You know it’s a great hotel stay when you’re sleeping so well and feeling comfortable; that you don't even want to leave the hotel until late evening...

Gabriel Martin finds out what happens when a mother is mad about tutus?A friend of mine told me that she wanted to start up a business. I didn't know what the business was all about. It could possibly be on food (because she does amazing food styling shots and of course cooks) or potentially on interior design or décor (partially because she used to be an amazing editor for a home magazine).Until, I found out that it about her tutus. Dolling her two daughters (very talented girls) in those pretty poofy princess-like tutus, Elaine Dong makes tutus in vogue again...

The immediate ooohhs and aaahhhs upon seeing the signature brand on the back of the jeans or right next to the frame of the glasses are evident.Quirky and cool, Japanese denim purveyor EVISU’s tagline ‘Before anyone did anything, EVISU did everything’ is a heads up into the subversive nature of the brand, founded by jeans connoisseur Hidehiko Yamane in 1991...

Like any other talented designers, inspiration plays a huge role in realising beautiful creations while standing true to a signature style. Referring to her past works, it is clear enough that Cassey Gan is the queen of print blocking in Malaysia; in a blasé yet sophisticated way. In her working studio, her designs stand out. Not much in a contrasting fashion but more of a captivating way each of the dresses speaks to you...
